Tequesquitengo is a town in the municipality of Jojutla in the state of Morelos, Mexico. As it is located on the shores of Lake Tequesquitengo, it has become one of the most important tourist destinations in the region.
Lake Tequesquitengo, located in Mexico, is the main water storage in the state of Morelos, is a closed basin of 28 km², with a flooded area of 8 km². From a geological point of view, it is a tectonic trench more than 130 meters deep that was formed as a result of the collapse of the roof of large caverns produced by the dissolution of the limestone rock that is found as a basement. It is located 111 km from Mexico City and 39 km from Cuernavaca.
